    Question

I found a Molly that I am considering bidding on that is ending tonight. Her clothes say made in hungary and the seller said that the doll was bought 10 or so years ago.
Does anybody know when they made clothes in Hungary or anything?
I would like to kinda know a littl ebit about the tagging before i bid.
    Thanks.

My dd's Molly has clothing tags that say "Made in Hungary" too. I purchased her direct from AG, so they are authentic. Our Molly is pre-Mattel(softer vinyl and soft brown eyelashes), even though I purchased her shortly after Mattel aquired AG. I hope this helps.

I have seen "Made in Hungary" tags which refer to the doll and not the clothes. I have seen both Molly and I think Samantha labeled "Made in Hungary." I think they are post-German early 1990's before China-made dolls. She's a real cutie!

I highly suggest removing that link! While most of us aren't going to bid on it because you have your eye on it... we can't control everyone who does come across this page! =P

Molly was the second doll I purchased direct from AG in January 2000. I'm not sure what this means but the tags inside her clothes say made in Hungary while the wrist tag that came with her says doll made in China. Maybe someone knows more about this and can answer the question for all of us. My Molly has no body tag.

I got a Samantha from Ebay with a dress that says "Made in Hungary" and tights that say "Made in Taiwan". She was being sold by a mom who was selling her daughter's dolls, and the woman told me she thought she bought her around 1997-ish. The doll appeared to be untouched - original hairstyle, bloomers on, etc.
At the time there were some folks on the board who said there was some evidence the dolls were made in Hungary for a period of time between Germany and China. I do know that she looks pretty different from my niece's brand new AG. She also has the soft brown eyelashes. I love her.
I don't know if it will help (esp. since you are looking at a Molly), but here's a link to some pics. I took of her when she first arrived:

    Samantha

Sorry she's not wearing her outfit; I only took the pics. because I wanted to ask folks here about her pigeon-toed appearance!

    Good Luck!

[img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I have a molly from the early 90's and she has "made in hungary skirt. Yours is probably an early 90's doll.
